25 May - Nandos

With the new round of Entertainment Book vouchers coming up, it was time to use up the old ones. CB and I had traded some of our Ent Book vouchers for Nandos ones, and today, we used two of them. The two vouchers we used were 'Buy one 1/4 chicken, get one free', so we ended up with basically a whole chicken, a super large peri peri chips, and perinaise.
I was so hungry that I totally forgot to take pictures, so here are pics of the leftover bones and whats left of the chips... As usual, my nose was running like a tap, but it was worth it. I might consider going to mild instead of hot to try and stop the nose runs, but I don't think I'd enjoy it as much.

25 May - Shimizu

Today I had lunch with some work mates, as one of our colleagues from Sydney had come over for most of the week. I had already brought my own lunch, and originally I was just going to go to have a chat. Then I saw the icecream, and eventually bought a second lunch.....

20 May - Jaws

Last Sunday, the group decided to go to Jaws since I scored 2 Ent Book vouchers. I smashed numerous plates of tori karaage, unagi (eel), and also went for a few crab plates, with sliced onion and mayonaise.

19 May - Cream, East Perth

CB and I decided to go somewhere swanky (stemming from all the Gordon Ramsay we've been watching lately) for our 8 year anniversary, and I read up on EatingWA that there was a little place called Cream in East Perth. We booked, trying to get one of the booths at the back (came from a recommendation from EatingWA), but were unable to secure one. We got a table towards the rear of the restaurant though.

For a starter, I had the house smoked salmon with a potato and leek mash of some sort, with some aioli. (sorry about the descriptions, but they don't have a website where I can steal the names from!). The salmon was lovely, and is the most smokey that I've ever tasted. The aioli complemented the salmon and potato very well .. all in all, a very nice entree.

Round 2 consisted of Baby Beef in a red wine confit, with crushed potatoes and fried onion rings. The beef was amazingly tender, being very slowly braised, it literally pulled apart and melted in your mouth. The sauce was very rich but went wonderfully well with the rest of the dish.

For desert, I had a pavlova, with passionfruit cream and contreau strawberries. The merringue was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and just enough marshmallow type consistency in the middle. Very delish. CB had a creme caramel (sort of a creme brulee with a caramel top) which was also very good.

All in all, the food was great, and the service was pretty good (none of the swanky service ala Raffles in Singapore, which, being honest, is too over the top for me). The meal portions were just right, even looking a bit small but when walking out I was completely satisfied...

18 May - Harbour Town Noodle Inn

Feeling like some fried spicy noodles, I opted for Penang Fried Kway Teow. It was good, however, I seriously got jipped in serving size. Upon returning back to the office and opening up the noodles, I realised that the container was only half full! I'm not sure if I'll go back there.. the hor fun I've had there a few times wasn't up to my standards, and this muddage serve has taken the cake. However, there aren't really any other places for "proper" chinese chow around here, so I'm a bit hesitant in getting out the vito stick....

17 May - McDonalds Melville

I was in Melville in the morning as I had to drop off my car to fix an issue. I greatly overestimated the time it would take to get from home to Melville, so I had a bit of time to kill. Since I didn't have breakfast, I thought I'd cash in an Entertainment Book 2 for 1 Muffin voucher for Maccas. I had one Bacon & Egg and one Sausage & Egg McMuffin for the low low price of $2.95.

It was typical Maccas fare, with the taste of McD's cheese eminating through every bite. Whenever I have Maccas nowadays, it always brings back memories of the nearly 5 years I worked in one.
