30 Jun - Positano Restaurant, Northbridge

Stan's birthday this year was at Positanos in Northbridge.

For starters, I had the arancini balls. I wasn't a big fan of them to be honest, the deep fried crispy coating was softened by the tomato sauce. There wasn't a whole lot of meat in them either (these were advertised with meat). Two giant meatballs would've been better for me.

For mains, I decided to try the slow roasted pork belly, served with sauteed potatoes, vegetables and an apple sauce. The skin was a little crackly but nothing like a slab of Cantonese BBQ pork. The meat underneath was succulent and soft, but the very bottom was a little overdone. The potatoes were well seasoned, and crispy, but a litle dry.

The positano menu boasted that their tiramisu was "the best in Perth". I decided to try it, and unfortunately, it's the not the best tiramisu in Perth. There wasn't a whole lot of coffee flavour, the thick chocolate sauce was much more prominent.

10 Jun - Penny Garden Restaurant, West Swan

Brunch last Sunday was at Penny Garden Restaurant, next to Yahava Koffeeworks out in the Swan Valley. I went for their eggs benedict, a "famous combo of a toasted English muffin, 2 poached eggs, ham & spinach, topped with hollandaise sauce". The eggs were poached nicely and the hollandaise sauce had good flavour. Their coffee wasn't as good as across the next building though....

28 May - Fast Eddy's Cafe, Morley

Last Monday, CB and I had dinner at Fast Eddy's to use up a Entertainment book voucher. To maximise savings, I went for the steak and seafood. After eating all the scallops a few days prior, I didn't need it at all.

The steak was cooked rare as requested, but the pepper sauce left a little to be desired. Fast Eddy's is definitely not a steakhouse haha, but at half price, was a decent feed.
