28 Oct - Leap Frog Cafe
Yesterday we had a little mini golf day with a bunch of friends out in Joondalup. The Botanic Gardens here have 2 mini golf setups, one normal mini golf and the 'billiard' golf. In the middle, we grabbed some grub at the cafe there.
I opted for a 'Leap Frog Open Sandwich' and an Iced Coffee. The sandwhich wasn't too bad, but I was expecting another half. For the money, I definitely expected another half. It went down well, the chips were cripsy and well salted. The Iced Coffee was drinkable, but nothing to rave about. It seems like they've 'wanked' up the food since the last time we came and had focaccia and wedges.
Turned out to be a good day. I won both rounds of golf! woot woot. (I now have bragging rights till next time)
24 Oct - La Porchetta
Service was typical Porchettas, but I guess that's expected... Next time, I might try an anti-pasto pizza with some meat additions :D
20 Oct - The Greek, Northbridge
For an entree, I had a dish called Spanakopita. It is described as "Traditional Greek dish of Spinach, Leek and Fetta Cheese Triangles wrapped in crisp Filo Pastry". It sounds pretty good but for me, it was OK. The filo wasn't as crispy as I thought it would be, and the filling wasn't savoury enough for my liking. I had preferred CB's mushroom entree, and I think she preferred mine....
For mains, I went for a well known Greek dish. It was Moussaka. Described as "Traditional Greek Recipe of Layered Eggplant, Potato, Fresh Herbs, Minced Beef and Lamb topped with a White Cheese Sauce. Served with a Side Salad.", to me, it was nice but wasn't too different from lasagne. There was bacon in the meat sauce which definitely saved it .. it made the dish much more tasty/savoury.
Desert time came around and I went for 'Galaktoboureko', "individual Greek style vanilla custard pie wrapped in Golden Filo Pastry and served with Honey and Icecream and drizzled with a light syrup." Again, it was ok, but nothing to rave home about. I was expecting a sweet rich custard like a bakers custard but it wasn't as vanilla as I wouldve liked it to be.
14 Oct - Sienas, Leederville
Before Josh Groban last night, CB and I went for some food. Feeling like pizza (and Woodpeckers not open till 6), we went to Sienas in Leederville at 5.30. Quickly ordering a drink and pizza, I went for a meat pizza with added mushrooms (can't remember the name and their site is out of date) and a lemon lime and bitters.
I can honestly say that I prefer my own pizza. The lack of vegetable (only onion and a few mushrooms) made it not that tasty .. in my opinion, a pizza should have atleast onion, capsicum, mushrooms, pineapple and some meat (yeah it's a bastardized, westernized pizza)....
13 Oct - Terrazza Morley
First up, I had chilli mussels. Whilst the serving was smaller than Blue Mussel, these mussels were certainly bigger. The sauce wasn't as good as Blue Mussels, but these guys don't claim to be the best. It was hot enough to make my nose run, and was salty enough to drink with a mussel shell afterwards.
For a main, I went for the Pollo 'Excellence', which was a "chargrilled chicken breast with prawns and scallops served with a green peppercorn and brandy cream sauce and potato." It was good, I enjoyed the sauce, and thought it could've been a bit more peppery. The chicken breast was cooked well, prawns were good but the scallops were a bit odd .. not so juicy, sweet and suculent that scallops should be.
I wasn't going to have a desert but opted for a sundae. It wasn't anything to rave about, the icecream filled the gaps, but it wasn't anything special.
So what is my verdict on Terrazza Morley? It looks like the management has changed, the service was ok with a few hiccups but I still wouldn't be dying to go back .. that's not to say I wouldn't go if someone else suggested to go.. why? Simply because after all this time, the menu hasn't changed and I'd rather have more variety...
13 Oct - KFC
9 Oct - Continental Shop?
I've had it before, not with the focaccia bread (they ran out of ordinary buns), as I always expected it to be hard. But this bread was soft and easy on the gums. The pancetta was good, although 'hot' pancetta always barely sizzles the tongue.
5 Oct - Noodle Inn, Harbour Town
4 Oct - Ispa Kebabs, Harbour Town
It's the tastiest kebab I've had in awhile, but certainly doesn't beat the one I had in Sydney, which was way nicer and cheaper...
1 Oct - Hungry Jacks
Quality & Speed - Pick one.
I couldn't be bothered making anything for lunch so CB and I decided to grab some fast food. Looking at our options, we decided upon HJs due to the vouchers that came through the junk mail. We got two Whoppers and 2 Chicken burgers, along with some chips and onion rings.
1 Whopper went to mum, I had 1 Whopper and half a Chicken burger, and some shared chips and onion rings. The condiment is Japanese mayo (yum).
Whilst I was impressed at the speedy service, the quality was definitely lacking. The fries were already soft, onion rings a bit stale, and the burgers had definitely been sitting for awhile.
