28 Jan - Old Chang Kee, Waterford Plaza

Old Chang Kee is a Singaporean convenience food chain which opened its first Australian store late last year. Last Saturday, CB and I headed out to Karrawarra to give them a shot and to experience our typical 'Singaporean breakfast' before our trip in March.

I had a Curry-O and a Mackerel-O, along with calamari on a stick. Washed down with a Vanilla Chiller from Gloria Jeans (instead of the usual Starbucks).  The puffs were flatter and not hand crimped. The Curry-O had a decent chilli hit (although probably not as strong as the Singaporean version if I remember correctly) but was missing the egg. The Mackerel-O was similar to it's international/original cousin, although was lacking in the chilli department.

After our fried breakfast, we bought a party pack ($21 for 10 pieces) for some of the other guys. I hope these guys stay in business for whenever I have a Curry-O craving, but if Famous Amos is anything to go by .. their chances aren't good....

Thanks for the curry-o. Hopefully they will go against the trend and open one at the Galleria!
