31 Jan - Nandos, Morley

After Ossie Park, CB and I went back to Morley to do a little food shopping and lunch. We both had a quarter chicken, and shared a large peri peri chips. The chicken was decently hot, and smokey enough to make it enjoyable. The chips were fresh, but a little dark (probably old oil).

I noticed that Nandos Spearwood does not give salad, but Morley does? Quite strange...

31 Jan - Some fundraising sausage sizzle, Osborne Park

I was in Ossie Park yesterday looking at cheap furniture places for my yet-to-be-bought house. I didn't have any breakfast, so I was quite hungry by about 10am. Luckily, there was a fund raising sausage sizzle nearby. It was a bit rich at $4 including a drink, but I was pretty hungry that I didn't care.

The bun was nice and soft, the sausage was warm enough to eat immediately, and it was greasy and chewy.. just the way I like it. It was severely lacking in onions though (I love onion), and it really needed 2 sausages to fill the bun. In any case, it disappeared quickly and was enough to tide me over till lunch.

23 Jan - Nandos, Spearwood

When Nandos was suggested instead of ordinary Cockburn Gateway, I happily agreed. I love to get my Nando Fix....

I went for the Chicken Steak, extra hot. Chicken Steaks have been my choice the last few times I've gone to Nandos, this time it was a bit dry, but the chilli kick was definitely there. For roughly the same money though, I could've got half a chicken, which looks to be better value for money (looking at my colleagues plates).

18 Jan - The Roasting Duck Restaurant, Northbridge

Today, Mum (and Dad, but he didn't go) shouted Dim Sum for the family due to a little Lotto win. We didn't go to Welcome Inn because they were shutting down soon to go back to Hong Kong for Chinese New Year.

Dim Sum at this place was slightly different. Chicken Feet wasn't as tasty, but was still tender and gelatinous. I had these deep fried pork balls which I last had when I was younger Deep fried squid wasn't as tasty. I ate a lot of fried food and was feeling a little wrong afterwards, but a few cups of tea and I was good again.

Given the choice, I would probably prefer Welcome Inn.. a bit more low rent with better tasty food. I will miss out on the pork balls but.

16 Jan - San Churro, Fremantle

After work today, the guys wanted to try a churro place in Fremantle instead of the normal lunch. I went for churros and icecream, along with a chocolate affogato.

Churros are deep fried dough thingies, known as "Spanish donuts". Whilst not exactly true (these are crispy, not soft), they were still pretty good. Think of sweet giant soy crisps and thats what they're like. Dipped into the melted chocolate, they were pretty good. You can also get white chocolate, dark chocolate and caramel to dip in.

The chocolate affogato was espresso coffee with white chocolate icecream. The coffee was so strong that I didn't taste any chocolate at all, so it was more like a strong normal affogato. Still was very good though.

9 Jan - Jaws Kaiten Sushi, Hay St Mall

Thinking Japanese was a cheaper option, CB suggested dinner tonight and I suggested Jaws. Bad choice hahaha. I ended up smashing about $30 worth of sushi... should've had Cantonese roast meats and rice instead :P

In the end, I ate a lot of karaage (about 3 or 4 plates?), two plates of eel and a few assorted bits and pieces. Tasty but expensive!

9 Jan - Sarpino's Pizzeria, Cockburn Gateway

Knowing I was having Japanese for dinner, I opted for Italian. Here is a Classic Italiano from Sarpino's at Cockburn Gateway. I still maintain that two more slices and it would of really hit the spot. But it was still a very tasty pizza.

8 Jan - Good Fortune Duck House, Northbridge

I had a day off today to take my Dad to the doctor. Afterwards, we went around looking for hifi equipment and finally had lunch in Northbridge. Whilst Dim Sum was initially offered from my folks, I suggested Good Fortune instead.

I had the boneless roast duck and rice, which made eating a lot easier and quicker. Moist duck and crispy skin, along with the chilli was gooooood. Mum had the same duck and rice, whilst Dad had char siu noodles. In the middle was another plate of meats (char siu, roast pork/siu yuk, and soy chicken.)

I definitely like the char siu from Good Fortune. It was a sweetness quality that isn't found at other BBQ shops.... Oh and I found out their knives come from Hong Kong...

31 Dec - Golden King BBQ Express, Morley

Doh! I forgot to take a picture. I was too hungry to remember...

I grabbed takeaway 3 meats and rice. My choices were char siu, roast pork and roast duck. After ordering, my food was given to me in about 2 minutes. Talk about fast food! Much faster than actual fast food joints, and better food too!

Whenever I go, I marvel at how the cleaver they use can cut pork and duck bones like butter. Got to get one of those knives somehow....
