23 Jul - McDonalds, Morley

CB and I went to see Toy Story 3 last Friday, and grabbed dinner before the movie. I wanted to have KFC, but they were shut. So I had to settle with McD's instead. I then wanted a McFeast, but they are now gone. So the closest thing was the Grand Angus burger. And what a fail that was. I didn't find it particularly tasty, and won't have it again. Whoppers all the way!

23 Jul - Mikazuki Sushi, Cockburn Gateway

Today's lunch at Cockburn was Japanese again. Although this time, it was a chicken katsu curry. It's effectively chicken katsu, rice and a bowl of Japanese curry. The sauce was nice, with a little bite, and went well with the chicken. I was so hungry that this was wolfed down pretty quickly.

16 Jul - Chinese Canton, Cockburn Gateway

Last Friday was Chinese day, so I loaded up my plate full of "Chinese" food. It was tasty, not very authentic, and I was quite parched afterwards. Haha. I did expect it though.

10 Jul - Tan Hiep Hung Vietnamese Takeaway, Girrawheen

Lunch yesterday was a Vietnamese roll from the shop at Girrawheen. Whilst I can get these from the local chinese shop, CB was only able to get the chicken one from Girrawheen. When they are made fresh, they are also served with chilli, which really take this roll to a new level. Just thinking about it is making me hungry.

10 Jul - Chinese shop food

Whilst out shopping, I was quite hungry. So when the shopping leg hit the local Chinese shop, I grabbed a couple of curry puffs and a bao. The curry puffs were bitesized and not very hot, but was still nice enough. The bao was nice, but it was no Tiong Bahru bao. The bao was nice and sweet and the filling was savoury and delicious.

Habanero Chilli

One of the guys at work was given a few habanero chillis. For shits and giggles, he brought one last Friday for us to try. I grabbed a knife, cut a few slices and offered it to the others. One of the others brought an "emergency cup of milk".

Before chewing it, I gave it a lick. Immediately, the chilli started to tingle my tongue. Once I started chewing it, it had a nice sweet flavour and then bang, the heat started to come. This was one seriously hot chilli from a little slice. Mmmm..

9 Jul - Sarpinos Pizza, Cockburn Gateway

I felt like a pizza on Friday, so used an Entertainment Book voucher at Sarpinos to buy two pizzas. One of my workmates had the other pizza. I went for the Classic Italiano, which was essentially a supreme pizza. It was tasty, and I could've done with another half a pizza.

5 Jul - McDonalds, Rockingham

My breakfast this morning. After dropping CB at the domestic airport his morning at 5AM, I went straight to work. On the way, I stopped by Maccas and used an Ent card voucher for a bacon & egg and sausage & egg McMuffin. It was washed down with work coffee. This breakfast was extra tasty cos the coffee and one of the muffins were free heheheh.

3 Jul - Padbuys Restaurant, Guildford

A group of us went to Padburys in Guildford to celebrate Ah-Stan's birthday. The weather last Saturday was absolutely freezing, and this place was nice and warm. So warm in fact that I decided to have an Iced Coffee whilst waiting for everyone to arrive.

The Iced Coffee was OK. I could've had it a little sweeter but the coffee was strong enough.

CB and I shared some wedges. They were served piping hot, with a crisp shell and fluffy interior. They were served with sweet chilli sauce.

For main, I went for the 'Meat of the Day', a braised lamb shank, with broccolini, baby carrot, mash and jus. The meat was delicious, melt in the mouth tender and well seasoned. The mash was velvety, only to be let down by a few lumps.

3 Jul - Mirrabooka Bakery, Mirrabooka

CB and I were at the shops last Saturday and started feeling a bit peckish. So we went to the local bakery and bought some heartattack sticks. I went for the chilli horn, which packed a decent punch and really hit the spot.

2 Jul - Oyster Sauce Chuck Steak

Awhile ago, I found some great meat at the supermarket. It was labelled "chuck casserole steak", and had wonderful marbling and connective tissue. I was originally keeping it for a casserole of sorts, but I thought I'd try and pan fry it instead.

So it got defrosted mid week, bashed with a meat tenderizer, and marinated for two days based on Mum's recipe, which consisted of oyster sauce and rice wine (1.5tb each), along with 2 cloves of garlic and a douse of pepper. Today, it was cooked medium in my cast iron skillet and served with fries and some green beans.

The chuck steak was a little chewy in certain sections, but other bits felt as good as a rib eye or scotch fillet. No doubt the marinade did it's job. This is one steak to not have plain. What this steak has over the more tender cuts is the beef flavour. This steak packs a meaty punch. Mmmmmmm....

2 Jul - Chinese Canton, Cockburn Gateway

Another week, another lunch with the guys. This time round, I had some noodles at the Chinese place at Cockburn Gateway. This was their version of beef kway teow. No wok hei unfortunately, but the beef was very tender.
