11 Dec - Port Kennedy Tavern, Port Kennedy

Last Friday was a work lunch at the Port Kennedy Tavern. I went for the lamb shank which was braised in honey and balsamic which was a bit weird. But the meat was falling apart.

28 Nov - Sienas, Leederville

CB and I shared a calamari entree and wedges as a starter and I had a chicken caesar salad for mains.

Everything was ordinary, the wedges weren't spiced or seasoned at all. The chicken caesar was OK but nothing to rave about.

21 Nov - Villa da Vinci, Ballajura

Can't say the serves weren't generous here! I was full after the wedges as a starter! The meat of the day special was enjoyed though with smooth mash, cabbage, bacon and some jus.

30 Oct - Ae Sushi, Hillarys

A light meal (by my standards) out at Ae Sushi in Hillarys.

Smiths KFC Zinger Chips

When I first heard about these, I was salivating at the thought. KFC Hot and Spicy is a guilty pleasure, nothing comes close when you want some deep fried finger licking good chicken. I was hoping these would be like the real thing, just in chip form.

But these taste nothing like KFC. If they were in a bowl without the packaging, I wouldn't have guessed it. They have some spice, but that's about all is going for it with the zinger name. Severely disappointed.

24 Oct - The Alexander, Ballajura

My birthday this year was at the classy Alexander bar and bistro in Ballajura.

CB and I shared the salt and pepper squid which wasn't bad. It wasn't served with salad but a crispy flat bread.

I went for the Texan burger which is double the signature Alexander burger. I managed to finish it but was struggling toward the end. At least this burger was quite good, a lot tastier than the Yankee burger challenge.

24 Oct - Cafe Vivere, Morley

Breakfast on Saturday was out at Coventrys.

I had eggs benedict which was on Turkish bread, bacon, rocket, poached eggs and hollandaise.

With a coffee, it went down well.

23 Oct - The Saint Bar and Bistro, Innaloo

CB and I had dinner out at The Saint. I went for the American share plate which I ate myself.

It consisted of pulled pork sliders, ribs, buffalo wings, chips and onion rings. I enjoyed it all apart from the ribs, they were just OK. Could've done with more filling in the sliders but it was tasty enough.

2 May - Mundaring Artisan Bakery Cafe, Mundaring

CB and I did a long op shop run yesterday and we stopped by here for a bite to eat. I originally wanted the pepper steak pie but they ran out. I then opted for the steak and mushroom which they also didn't have. After asking what they had, I finally had a steak and onion pie with iced coffee.

The pie was nice but quite expensive for what you got.

28 Mar - Malaga Markets, Malaga

A quick, tasty but not worth the money lunch whilst out and about. The pork and gravy bun was $9.

12 Apr - Guzman y Gomez, Northbridge

CB and I went to the Perth Food Truck Rumble in Northbridge, but after seeing the queues, the wait of 30+ minutes in queue for food was not entertained.

So instead, plan B was to eat elsewhere in the area. We decided on Mexican, where I had a Spicy Chicken Guerrero Borrito. Oh yeah, the spice was kicked up a notch here, and my mouth had a decent tingle after I was done eating. The chilli didn't deter from flavour though, the chicken was very tasty. The burrito was deceptively small, but filling. I guess when it's filled and wrapped with starch (rice and beans), it will do that.

11 Apr - Old Chang Kee, Karrawarra

CB and I were passing through on the way to Canning Vale, so had a quick bite at OCK. Along with this curry puff with egg, we had a vegetarian fried rice. It wasn't that good. The curry puff was OK, should've gone for the Mackerel-O instead.

4 Apr - Golden King BBQ Express, Morley

As usual, a cheap and tasty meal.

3 Apr - Leapfrog Cafe, Wanneroo

I had a smoked trout tart with salad and shared these chips with CB. The food wasn't bad, but both food and drinks were quite pricey.

Milo

Mmmm milo is currently on special so I got a can.

Carrot cake

With most of my immediate family currently in Singapore, I thought I'd have some Singaporean delights of my own.

8 Mar - Summerlakes Seafood, Ballajura

Another non dirty session of fish and chips. As we ate at home, there was also tartare, tomato and peri mayonnaise to go with.

7 Mar - Nhu Loan, Girrawheen

At $4.50, a cheap tasty lunch. Crisp roll, nice fillings and a good hit of chilli. Washed down with a froke from the newly opened McDs.

28 Feb - KFC Mirrabooka

Grabbed lunch as we were out and about. Decided to try another Stacker burger with the entertainment book voucher. This one wasn't as good, the patties were soft and soggy, not fresh and crunchy like the first.

27 Feb - Zapatas Mexican Restaurant, Northbridge

Being lent, I opted for the bean burrito, medium hotness but with jalapeños. It was the right hotness for me, any more and I would've had a running nose and wouldn't of been pretty in public. Would've preferred meat but the beans weren't bad.

21 Feb - Thai Orchid, Mount Lawley

This was deep fried tofu and banquet B, which consisted of spring rolls, satay, curry puffs, chicken and cashew, green curry and stir fried vegetables.

Everything was sweetened, I'm guessing because of the cuisine itself, which is why I'm not a huge fan of it. It was a big feed though and quite affordable with a bit of choice.
