3 Feb - Wagamamas

Today, CB and I decided to eat lunch out, even though it was going to be a 40 degree day. The destination was Wagamamas in Subiaco. We have been there before, and I wasn't too impressed with my first experience, but decided to give it a try after a workmate said to try the Chilli Squid. CB and I shared the following dishes:

Sweet Potato Kusabi. Thin sweet potato chips with a wasabi mayonaise. These chips were sweet and crunchy and the wasabi mayo had a little zing with a bit of tang. Overall quite good and I'd have it again.
Chilli Squid. Served with a lime dipping sauce. The squid was OK .. it was cooked tender (better than overdone) but the sauce left a little to be desired. It was sweet and not sour as I was expecting from a lime sauce. I probably wouldn't try this one again...

Teriyaki Chicken. The little side salads served with both mains were delicious. The dressing was sour and tangy and the lettuce was fresh and colourful. The teriyaki sauce was on the sweet side, whilst the chicken was a bit overdone and dry. I would probably pass on this one too as it was too sweet for me.
Chicken Katsu Curry. This was definitely the better of the two mains and was eaten quickly! Crispy deep fried chicken with rice, curry sauce and a little salad. The sauce was to western tastes (not hot at all), but was still good. I'd give this another try.
And lastly, Banana Katsu with Coconut Icecream. This was very nice, the banana was just like a fritter, except crumbed instead of battered. The coconut icecream was strong, but there was too little! Especially when it was shared.

Overall, Wagamamas has some good food, although it tends to lean on the sweet side of things (Along with Han's Cafe .. why is that??).

Is that a Banana Katsu or a Banana Purple-headed womb broom?

I think that restaurant was named after moi!
