CB and I were in Morley today and decided to grab Japanese. Zushibento was the place to go, located opposite Woolies in the Galleria. We ordered 2 Teriyaki Chickens and waited a short while before we got our food.
Overall, the food was nice. The chicken had crispy skin and was tender in the middle. It's definitely one of the nicer Teriyaki Chickens that I've had. However, the coleslaw needed a bit more mayonaise in it.
28 April - Monte Fiore Cafe
On Friday, some of CB's family and I had dinner Monte Fiore in Mt Lawley. As a couple of people were running late, we decided to share some starters, and ordered the Trio of Dips and some chunky fries with aioli.
The dips were beetroot, roasted tomato and Guacamole. Out of all of them, the roasted tomato was the best in my opinion. The wedges were nice and the serving was massive! After the share of starters, I wasn't able to finish a whole main in my own, so CB and I shared a Cajun Chicken Pizza.

The pizza was OK, nothing to rave about. I've definitely had better. The base was soggy and not that crispy, and the toppings weren't that spicy (when it's supposed to be cajun, I'm expecting some fire).
I also had an ice coffee. I've had them here before and they are OK, but not the best I've had.
24 Apr - Blue Mussel Subiaco
On Tuesday, the group (except CB, who is in Melbourne) went out to Blue Mussel for a birthday. The restaurant is located in the new establishment right next to the train station. It's a fairly small restaurant, with an open kitchen (so you can see them making your meal), however once it filled up, it was really loud and hard to have a conversation in.
For entree, I ordered Gravalax Salmon Mille Fuille. Their description was "In house cured Tasmanian Salmon, layered between potato Rösti, horseradish cream cheese & curly endive, finished with a Njou salsa Verde". The entree was nice, however towards the end, the horseradish cream cheese was getting a little on the sickly side. It wasn't something that I'd typically order, however it was very muchly enjoyed.
The good thing about Tuesday was their special... buy one, get one free mussels. Since they claimed to have the 'Best in the West', I knew I had to try their Chilli Mussels. So for mains, I ordered a mains size Chilli Mussels (10/10 for hotness) and some bread. The mussels were very good, the best I've had in a while. The hotness was nice at the start and by the end, I had a runny nose, teary eyes and had run out of tissues. I wanted to finish my chilli juice but ended up leaving some of it behind.
A vanilla shake was also ordered, although this was a little watery for my liking. I wanted to try my benchmark 'Ice Coffee', but since I had to work the next day, I didn't want the coffee to keep me up.
All in all, I quite liked the food. For $12 mussels, it is definitely worth it.

21 April - McDonalds
As part of the food survey mentioned earlier, I also had to visit McDonalds. Since hearing from my bro that the McFeast was back, I was happy to visit Maccas. Today, I ordered a 'McFeast Deluxe', although it wasn't very deluxe (no bacon).
As can be seen in the above picture, it looked to be slopped together. When I used to work at Maccas, collars were used to keep the burgers nicely aligned. HJ's wrap their burgers up nice and tight. Unfortunately McD's decided to ditch the collars and use cardboard boxes, which result in burgers like the above....
Was the burger good? It wasn't bad. After I got over the sloppiness in construction, it tasted just as I remember. However, I must say that I much prefer a Whopper.
20 April - Miss Mauds
Last friday, we had dinner at Miss Mauds to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday. We were originally going to go to Montereys, but unfortunately, they were under renovations and therefore they had a reduced buffet.
Sorry bout the shoddy pictures .. they looked ok on the small screen. Overall, the meal wasn't too bad. Like most buffets I hit, I much prefer the cold meats etc compared to the hot stuff. One particular fave of the night was the quiche.
My dad out ate us all! But atleast we now know where our appetites came from...
14 Apr - Dominos Morley
I have taken part in a Mystery food shopper survey thingo, as part of the surveys I do in general for cash (yeah I'm a sell out). This time round (I've done it once before), I have to go to Dominos and Maccas. Today was Dominos.
CB and I shared a deep pan vegorama with chicken. It was OK, however I never find the deep pan crusts crispy enough. I much prefer making my own pizzas nowadays as my guts always seem to be unsettled after eating fast food now, especially greasy foods like Dominos..
Sorry, no pics this time round .. I forgot as usual.. (I hope to get better at remembering).

5 April - Villa Da Vinci
At Villa Da Vinci, I had to try the "Meat of the Day", which consisted of stuffed lamb, sweet potato mash, beans and a rosemay jus. To top it off, a very creamy and delicious iced coffee. (probably the best one I've had so far)
The lamb was very lovely, cooked medium, with a char grilled smokey flavour whilst also being very tender. The stuffing was tasty, very ala bbq chicken stuffing found at Coles / Woolies, but it's a good thing I like that stuffing. The sweet potato mash was also nice, I probably would've preferred something a bit more savoury but it was still good nonetheless.

1 April - Pines Grand Buffet and Carvery
Unfortunately there was no carvery as we went for breakfast. A group of us decided to go for breakfast using the Entertaiment book gold cards, which meant breakfast was $18 each for all you can eat.
I didn't eat that much .. I was hungry, but after by initial packed plate of bacon, eggs, sausages etc, I didn't have a lot of room. A bit of fruit, 2 cups of tea and 2 cups of orange juice, and I was done.
Afterwards we hit GJs where I had the usual Vanilla Chiller. That was about it until dinner time, lunch was skipped.
