28 Sep - Blue Mussel

No photos this time round, they didn't turn out due to insufficient lighting.

CB and I went to Blue Mussel on Friday night. I had already been there back in April but CB hadn't, so we decided to go.

I wanted to try different things on the menu from last time, and so for entree, I got the seafood plate. It was effectively a seafood tapas plate, with prawns, squid, scallop, oyster kilpatric and some mussels. Whilst being a little small, all I can say was Yum!

For a main, I had a mixed mussel platter and a side of fries. The platter consisted of grilled mussels done in three ways: Caesar, Sariska and Margarita. The caesar had bacon, mayo, croutons and cheese, the sariska was like a curry sauce and the margarita was a tomato base and mozzarella cheese. All were good except for the margarita, it tasted like the alcohol wasn't cooked off and that ruined it for me.

The fries were good, and were in a huge bowl. We left just under half left (there were that many), they were great hot, and were served with a side of citrus aioli.

For a drink I got an Iced Coffee. Like the vanilla shake last time, it was a bit watery. And by the time the ice melted, it was even moreso.

All in all, it was a nice meal. This time round, it wasn't so noisy as it wasn't full, but we still had to raise our voices a bit to have a conversation. I would go back to try a few other things on the menu, but this time would remember about the monstrous serve of fries.

23 Sep - Mille Cafe, Inglewood

On Sunday Morning, Ants and Carleeah shouted breakfast as a 'thank you in advance' for helping them move. Looking at the menu options, I went for the 'Wake Up Call', which consisted of eggs, mushrooms, tomato, bacon, chipolatas and toast. I had an Iced Coffee on the side.
I had a bit of trouble fitting all of it in for some reason. I'm guessing the milky coffee filled me up. It was on par with Farrells (without the lamb chops), but also was considerably cheaper from memory. A minor grumble was that some of my bacon was burnt and inedible (as Gordon Ramsay says: "If it's black.. it's fucked"...)

22 Sep - Subway, Wangara

CB and I were at the Wanneroo Markets, wondering around whilst waiting for her passenger door window to get replaced, and decided to grab breakfast. We had a few choices in the little food hall there and Subway. I passed on the food hall, questioning the hygeine standards there and went for Subway instead.

I settled on a bacon and egg roll and a Masters Iced Coffee. I couldn't get Italian Herb and Cheese bread and had to go Parmesan Oregano. But the roll wasn't nice at all. It was weird having such an empty bun (I normally go for all salads at lunch, so it's packed tight), the bacon wasn't too bad but the egg was microwaved and not that nice. And when I order a bacon and egg roll/sandwich, I expect a grease bomb .. unfortunately, I didn't get it and was a bit disappointed.

17 Sep - Shimizu, Harbour Town

Now that Jaws in Cinema City has closed (and is not reopening), the best place that I've had tori karaage is probably Shimizu. The takeaway tori karaage is deceptively filling, but for $8.50, is a bit on the rich side (considering Fujimore has a whole bento set for $8.50, but unfortunately they do not have karaage).
Today's serving wasn't too bad. There was a midgie on the lid of the bowl, but it could've landed there during the walk back to the office. The japanese style coleslaw (underneath the cucumber) was pretty good, very crunchy. Could've done with a bit more mayo though.

2 Sep - KFC

For Father's Day, we had KFC for dinner. Mum also made some potato salad as a side, along with the usual KFC sides such as Potato and Gravy, Coleslaw and chips.

Whenever we have KFC for dinner as a family, I'm usually the one who gets it. I think next time I'll leave it for someone else to do, so they can feel the pain going to the KFC near us. It was busy (both drive-through and front counter), yet nobody there even cared and were working at a leisurely pace. Even the manager (or who I presumed to be a manager, with their blue shirt) did not seem concerned.

I know it's not the best place to work, however when I was working at another fast food chain (the one with the golden arches), I distinctly remember working like a biatch during those busy periods. If we worked like those kids last night, we'd get our arses kicked .... perhaps this post should be in Rants and Raves?
