4 Apr - Darlington Estate Winery, Darlington

Today, most of the family, Aunt Jen & Stan and Gaz headed to Darlington for lunch, as we had some international guests from Singapore. Most of us had been here 3 years prior for dinner and had enjoyed the experience.

To start with, I had an affogato ($6). Man was this strong! With the icecream and one sugar, this was still a little bitter. I would've liked a little more coffee but would've needed more sugar to compensate.

Due to time restraints, we went straight to mains. I chose the "Pistachio and sage crusted lamb rack on olive and rocket potatoes with minted pea puree and thyme jus", and specifically asked for it to be rare. I got rare! I'm glad I did because a couple of others ordered the same dish and their racks were cooked all the way through. The lamb was deliciously tender, and the potatoes were a tad overseasoned (the olives were salty) but went well with the meat. The minted pea puree was OK but not really my cup of tea. I would've loved more meat (about 4 or 5 bites haha), but what was there was really really good.

CB and I shared sweets, and went for the "Apple tart tartin with cinnamon anglaise and double cream". This was very sweet and I'm glad that we shared instead of me having one to myself. It was a little on the expensive side for what we got, but it was still enjoyed.
