31 Mar - Passatempo, Adelaide

This veal parmi was okay but a little soggy. The chips weren't seasoned either so I had to season them myself.

21 Mar - Golden King BBQ Express, Malaga

Another no red dinner so I went for the fried egg noodles with seafood and additional soup. The noodles were a little weird.. It was like they deep fried the clump of noodles and then put the sauce on top. Tasty, but required salt which I added liberally.

21 Mar - Zuma Cafe, Adelaide

Brunch was at Zuma this morning. I grabbed the eggs florentine with smoked salmon. I felt hungry when I ordered it but didn't end up finishing it. The hollandaise was very thick and set which was a little weird.

19 Mar - Largs Pier, Largs Bay

With work finishing earlier due to power interruptions, dinner was at the local pub. I grabbed their signature burger, which was hard to eat, even after compressing it as far as possible. Wasn't bad though, but it wasn't Burger Theory or Pearls Diner.

19 Mar - KFC

A serve of popcorn chicken and a Golden Gaytime crusher. The drink actually tasted like a blended GG icecream. The popcorn chicken is for a snack later.

18 Mar - Passatempo, Adelaide

A takeaway penne puttanesca pasta. Yum. Oily but very tasty with olives, capers, anchovies, roasted capsicum and tomato sauce.

19 Mar - Sushi Train, Adelaide

Had a "light" lunch with colleagues and ended up at the Japanese place near the hotel. I had a number of dishes including the duck sushi above.

18 Mar - United Latino Cocina, Adelaide

After an unhealthy snack, it was decided to have a slightly healthier lunch. I went for two fish tacos, along with one beef taco and grilled corn.

The fish taco didn't disappoint and the beef one wasn't bad either. The corn was a little weird as I'm used to buttered sweet corn and not a savoury flavour with strong cheeses.

17 Mar - McDonald's, Adelaide

A highly nutritious midnight meal. Double quarter pounder meal. A colleague went for a pounder (4 bits of meat) and finished it in 4 minutes.

The double quarter pounder reminded me of why I stopped eating these types of burgers and the chips were extra salty.

17 Mar - Kingdom Chinese Restaurant, Adelaide

Dinner consisted of char siu and duck rice along with died scallop and seafood soup.

The soup was thick with seafood chunks. There was no scallops though or they were mushed up and not chewy like mum's.

The rice was OK, the duck was cut in a way to remove most bones but there were some present. The meats were quite tasty though.

17 Mar - Zuma Cafe, Adelaide

A quick lunch before heading off to work. I grabbed a chicken Caesar salad and iced coffee. The salad was well dressed and had a good ratio of lettuce to goodies. The coffee was quite strong too.

16 Mar - McDonald's, Beechboro

Lunch today was at my old workplace. I granted a Grand Angus Burger which was OK but no Whopper.

14 Mar - Golden King BBQ Express, Malaga

No meat Friday meant I couldn't have the usual roast meat and rice. I went for the seafood horfun with egg sauce. The gravy was a little watery but overall it was tasty.

14 Mar - Public CBD, Adelaide

A brunch with work colleagues. I had poached eggs on toast with added house cured salmon.

13 Mar - Jasmin Indian, Adelaide

Whilst walking from Burger Theory back to the hotel, I grabbed dinner. Jasmin is open for lunch Thur/Fri, so I went and grabbed some Chicken Tikka takeaway. The chicken had decent smokey flavour, with the dhal and pickles in the rice giving nice contrast.

13 Mar - Burger Theory, Adelaide

The sister site of Pearl's Diner, Burger Theory is a short walk from Rundle Mall instead of out in the suburbs. I grabbed a #1 burger, with a side of fries and vanilla shake. The fries were properly seasoned, the burger was quite tasty, and the shake wasn't bad either.

13 Mar - Ecco Espresso Bar, Adelaide

Another mid morning coffee, this time with a chocolate chip muffin. I'm not in the lovely hotel lobby though, the location has been replaced with a laundromat around 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel. The washing machines range from $4-5 per load (depending on size of the machine), powder is $2 (enough for two washes) and the dryers take $1 per 10 minutes. Obviously not as cheap as the Hong Kong laundry services where they do it for you and are paid per weight.

12 Mar - Drumsticks Takeaway, North Haven

A picture of my mostly eaten roast pork dinner. This takeaway joint near our work location has a decent selection, including roast meat and veg for $10. I went for pork (the other guys had chicken), and came with a handful of roast spuds, carrots and peas, all drowned in a thick gravy. I didn't mind it, although they served it up in a foil container, so I had to go to the supermarket next door and buy a microwaveable plate. Wonder if I'll be able to get that expense through the system...

12 Mar - Passatempo, Adelaide

After walking around the Chinatown area, the guys felt like Mediterranean food (I think they have something against Asian haha). Sitting outside this time, I saw the specials board had a prawn and scallop skewer dish. At $25 a serve, there were a fair amount of scallops and prawns, served with a salad and chips. The chips were a little soggy being underneath everything, and could of used some seasoning (no salt at all).

12 Mar - Ecco Espresso Bar, Adelaide

The Hilton internet service in the rooms is a paid service only (unless you're a gold member), and even though work is paying, I can't stomach having to pay nearly $40 a day for internet. However, the lobby has a free internet access point, so I grabbed a coffee and snot block from the nearby coffee shop and sat in the lobby to upload my blog entries and check mail.

The coffee (a large flat white) was delivered scorching hot, but wasn't bad overall. The vanilla slice was OK, the custard was set quite firm, however did not have a lot of vanilla flavour in it.

11 Mar - McDonalds

A midnight top up, I had a McSpicy meal. Whilst nothing compared to the SE Asian version, this hit the spot well, washed down by a vanilla milkshake.

11 Mar - Rick's Chicken Rice, Central Market Plaza food court

I opted for some fried char kway teow for takeaway dinner last night. I was served by a lady who didn't know what a receipt was. The noodles had decent heat, and smelt like they had wok hei, but when reheated, it didn't have any. Also, there were no lup cheong which I think is a prerequisite for this dish.

11 Mar - Passatempo, Adelaide

A lunch with colleagues after I touched down and checked into the hotel.

The chicken Caesar salad was of a decent size, although it wasn't dressed enough for my liking.

The wedges weren't that great, the wedges were taken too far or old oil was used. A decent serve though.

27 Feb - Ikea, Stirling

CB and I bought some furniture from Ikea so decided to grab dinner at their "restaurant" while we were there. I couldn't decide what to have, to decided to have both (hurray!)

The kiev was the better of the two, tasty garlic butter in the middle of a deepfried chicken breast.

The meatballs have been raved about by various people, I didn't find them *that* good. They were OK. The sweet jam and savoury gravy made for an interesting flavour, but the meatballs themselves weren't anything special I thought. Very cheap though!

22 Feb - Feral Brewing Company

For Ange's birthday this year, we headed out into the Swan Valley for dinner.

For mains, I had a pork schnitzel special where it was matched with one of their beers. The beer came out shortly after ordering and was mostly drunk before the main arrived. By the time mains arrived, the beer was a little warm. The schnitzel was OK, but the coleslaw was a little uninspiring.

CB and I shared a dessert, which was supposed to be quite creamy but was are like a sorbet. It had decent flavour, but guessing it was in the freezer for too long.
