28 Mar - Golden King BBQ Express, Morley
Last Sunday, I had to do a little running around to sort out Arnee-ah and Julie's internet connection. I used it as an excuse to grab lunch on the run. CB and I went to the nearest Cantonese BBQ place for some chow.
I grabbed char siu and roast pork with rice, and it was good. I love the crackling these proper shops can get, my crackling doesn't remotely compare. However, I do prefer my seasonings when I make these myself.
I was tossing between this and some wet horfun noodles. Next time I might have to try the latter.
12 Mar - Eagle Boys Pizza, Malaga
Fridays during Lent are a fish only deal. I couldn't be bothered cooking last Friday, so I opted to try out the local pizza joint instead. I put in an order in advance, which was a Dinner Saver Meal Deal (two classic pizzas, garlic bread and a dessert thingie). My pizza was a Vegie Delight with anchovies, CB's choice was a Vegie Delight with Chicken.
I found the Vegie Delight to be nicer than Domino's Vegorama. Their olives and tomato are much nicer, and the extra anchovies I ordered added a nice savoury note without being too salty or fishy. After finishing off half a garlic bread and half a pizza, I went back and ate another 3 slices haha. I gave CB the last slice so she could taste the anchovy.
CB and I also shared the dessert thingie (that's what it's called). I picked out the Apple Crumble one. This was OK, although very sweet. And icing sugar went everywhere! I probably wouldn't go for this again.
All in all, I was quite impressed by the pizza. They are a little more expensive than Dominos, but they are also slightly larger, so it probably works out!

7 Mar - Northbridge Chinese Restaurant, Northbridge
Brunch yesterday was dim sum with some of CB's work friends out at Northbridge Chinese Restaurant. I didn't take any pics cos the dishes were coming thick and fast, but I did take one of the Dan Tarts which I got first up (and reserved for later).
All of the dim sum staples were sampled here, along with some new ones which I normally don't try at the usual Welcome Inn. The usual fried squid, har gow, siew mai, char siu bao, chee cheong fun, fried seaweed fish rolls, black bean pork ribs and lor bak goh were enjoyed. We also had jook (congee), which had century egg, sticky rice, some fried chive dumplings, some salt and pepper fried fish, oyster sauce kai lan and some custard pineapple buns.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to eat any chicken feet. I didn't see any come around, and nobody else wanted to eat any. :-(
This place was quite full when we arrived at 10:30, and by the time we left and nearly 12, there was a heap of people waiting outside. Personally, I prefer Welcome Inn, due to it being cheaper and the food (to me) being mostly identical. However, some of the things which aren't available at Welcome Inn (the pineapple buns and fried fish) were enjoyed.
6 Mar - Cafe Oscars, Ellenbrook
Dinner on Saturday night was out in South Geraldton, near Arnee-ah and Julie's place.
CB and I shared some garlic bread to start with. These were buttery and had a hint of garlic. I personally like mine blasting of garlic, but I was hungry enough not to worry about it too much.
For main, I went for the Pork Dijonaisse. The menu described it as "Pork medallions pan-fried with fresh mushrooms, white wine and cream with a touch of seeded mustard." I was given the option of salad, wedges or fries. Good thing I didn't pick the salad as I would've had double salad. The pork was very tender, the wedges (which weren't touching the sauce) were golden and crisp, and the sauce was quite nice. All in all, I enjoyed it and polished this dish off quite quickly.
After mains, some of the other had coffee and/or cake. I went for a vanilla shake. This was fairly bog standard. I like my shakes quite thick, this was quite milky and not thick at all.
