25 Jun - Voyage Kitchen, Sorrento

I had the burger and shared the dessert with CB. The burger was decent although I encountered a landslide and ended with a mess. The chips were a little soggy.

The rhubarb and cherry crumble was nice. The top had crunch if the custard wasn't poured all over.

20 Jun - Golden King BBQ Express, Malaga

Arrived back home at lunch time so it was off to grab some Chinese food. This plate of roast meats didn't disappoint and hit the spot.

18 Jun - Fuddruckers, Dallas Fort Worth Airport

The Hangover burger with egg, cheese and bacon. Had to partly make it as salad additions are on a counter. But a decent burger which hit the spot.

18 Jun - Ben's Chili Bowl, Ronald Reagan Airport

An original half smoke chili dog. Messy to eat but hit the spot. Even got complimentary crisps which I didn't get with takeaway from their original shop.

18 Jun - Charley's Philly Steaks, Pentagon City

A cheesesteak with salad. It diluted the taste a bit but made it slightly healthier to eat.

17 Jun - Shake Shack, Pentagon City

I wanted to try their other burgers since the chicken one was quite good. I opted for the smoke shack which included bacon and no salad. This burger was meaty and gooey from the cheese.

The sundae wasn't bad. Salted caramel and chocolate. The caramel wasn't mixed very well though and overpowered in spots. With a little less it would've been spot on.

17 Jun - Magnolia Bakery, Penn Station New York

I had this lime cheesecake on the train back to DC. The lime was subtle and made it feel a little less rich.

17 Jun - Don Pepi Pizza, Penn Station New York

A fitting way to leave NY. A slice of a pepperoni NY style pizza. As usual, crisp base and chewy crust.

17 Jun - Whole Foods Market, Columbus Circle New York

This morning was a lazy one as we packed to head back to Washington DC and head home. Last night we stopped off at Whole Foods again.

They didn't have the apple danish that I had earlier in the day so I got these instead. I don't think they were as good.

The iced coffee appeared to be from a powder but was decently strong.

16 Jun - McDonalds, New York

After show dinner #2. 10 nugget meal. They weren't the freshest but filled a void.

16 Jun - Chick Fil-A, New York

Dinner tonight was this Spicy Chicken Deluxe burger meal. The deluxe meant lettuce, cheese and tomato was included.

The burger had a little bite but overall was just OK. Shake Shack's chicken burger was better in my opinion.

16 Jun - East Japanese Restaurant, New York

This sushi train didn't have a huge range compared to others in Australia and Asia.

16 Jun - Whole Foods Market, Columbus Circle New York

Breakfast this morning was at Whole Foods. I had an Apple Danish and shared a blended iced latte. The Danish was quite good although was a bit soggy in the middle from the fruit.

15 Jun - Sombreros, Hells Kitchen New York

I had this pork burrito which was filled pulled pork and cheese. The rice and beans were off to the side. I can't say it was the best burrito I had but I had no issue finishing it.

15 Jun - Steinway Market, Steinway New York

After the Museum of the Moving Image, this place was right near the train station. I went for the Chicken Breast Hero which was sliced chicken and salad in a bread roll.

15 Jun - Dunkin Donuts, Harlem New York

On the way out this morning, breakfast was at the local Dunkin Donuts. I grabbed their promotional pork roll. A buttery croissant with egg, cheese and pork (not bacon).

It was OK but quite heavy.

14 Jun - Broadway Pizza, New York

Tonight's dinner was at a local pizza joint in the way to the train station.

I went for the chicken/broccoli and ham/pineapple slices. As usual, the base was crisp and crusty chewy. The ham and pineapple was the tastier choice.

14 Jun - Bento Sushi and Ramen, New York

CB and I had some Japanese for lunch. The rice wasn't as sticky as usual and the meat was precooked with a teriyaki glaze squeezed on top.

14 Jun - Street cart on the roadside, New York

CB and I shared this NY style pretzel from a street vendor. The salt dusted off easily. The texture wasn't as good as the soft pretzel in Philly.

13 Jun - Sylvia's Restaurant, Harlem New York

Sylvia's is a well known restaurant in Harlem serving soul food. Once we sat down, we were served corn bread which was slightly sweet and flakey.

I ordered the dark meat fried chicken with collard greens and mac and cheese. The fried chicken was crisp and juicy. The collard greens were good, cooked in some tasty broth. The mac and cheese was creamy but not overly cheesey.

For dessert, CB and I shared the peach cobbler with some icecream. It seemed sweet to me. The peach filling could've been more tart.

Both of us rolled out of this place.

13 Jun - Coney's Cones, Coney Island New York

It was quite warm on the boardwalk that CB and I shared some gelato to cool off. We got three scoops, coffee, brownie and mango underneath. Coffee was the best followed by mango. The texture was good although it melted almost immediately in the heat.

13 Jun - Deno's Snack Bar, Coney Island New York

A slice of pepperoni pizza. This was quite tasty. The base and crust had a nice texture to it.

13 Jun - Zaro's Bakery, New York

A late breakfast this morning consisted of an onion bagel with cream cheese and a shared iced latte.

The bagel had a nice onion flavour to it although it flaked off the bagel and made a mess. The coffee was OK albeit sweet as usual.

12 Jun - Crunchy Cheetos

Finally got a chance to eat the other packet of Cheetos that I bought earlier. These were just like cheese Twisties.

12 Jun - Mighty Quinn's BBQ, West Village New York

Whilst walking from "The Highline" back towards the train lines, this place was along a strip of restaurants.

I ordered a brisket sandwich and shared the other sides (baked beans, fries and coleslaw). The brisket was soft but a little dry. A little sauce fixed that up.

The fries were a little floppy and soggy and the beans with burnt ends was definitely smokey.

12 Jun - Parisian Deli, Columbus Ave New York

After walking around Central Park for a couple of hours, we walked out to grab a bite to eat. On the west side was this deli. I grabbed an "84th and Columbus" (this must be their signature roll) which had chicken, bacon, cheese and salad. It wasn't bad, but not the best hoagie I've had either.

Also grabbed some small packets of chips to try. The cheddar ones had a decent cheesiness to them and the jalapeno ones did build up in spice as you kept eating them. I still prefer original though.

12 Jun - White Castle, Harlem New York

By the time we got out this morning and had coffee,it was after 10AM. So I decided to grab some White Castle for a snack. I ordered two cheeseburger sliders and shared some macaroni and cheese nibbles.

The cheeseburgers were OK. Pillowy white buns, ketchup, onion, pickle and cheese make up the majority of the flavouring. The meat didn't really add a lot of flavour.

The nibbles were a heart attack waiting to happen. Best eaten hot for sure.

11 Jun - Burger King, New York

A large double Whopper meal. I ended up with one having cheese although I said no to cheese. I don't believe the receipt had it either. No different to HJs except for the massive drink.

11 Jun - Magnolia Bakery, Greenwich Village New York

Whilst in Lower Manhattan, we walked westward towards the nearest Magnolia Bakery.

I went for the vanilla cheesecake. This version had a base.

It was really good. Quite rich though. A cup of coffee or tea would've cut through nicely.

11 Jun - Sals Pizzeria, Little Italy New York

CB and I were walking past Little Italy so decided to stop. We grabbed a couple of pizzas to share.

The mushroom pizza wasn't as tasty as the anchovy and olive. Both had a crisp base and crust. However the two pizzas ended up being quite steep after drinks, tax and tip.

11 Jun - Sal's Pizzeria, Little Italy New York

CB and I were walking past Little Italy so decided to stop for lunch. We grabbed two pizzas to try. Both had crisp based. The mushroom which look to be from a can weren't that tasty. The sardine and olives were tastier but salty.

After adding tax and tip, lunch was quite expensive!

10 Jun - Pretzel M&Ms

The same size as a peanut version but with less taste. Peanut still wins.

10 Jun - Majestic Delicatessen Cafe, New York

CB and I stopped here after walking around the Times Square area. I decided to try the Reuben sandwich.

It was OK but quite expensive for what you got. I probably should've forgone the reuben for pastrami and salad. It was quite salty and my kidneys will probably pay for it.

The plain cheesecake was delicious. Great texture, and not overly sweet. There was no base which was a bit weird.

10 Jun - Jersey Mikes Subs, 30th Street Station PA

Next to Wendy's was the last chance to have a cheese steak in Philly. I shared this one with CB so it was a chicken one. It had peppers and mushrooms which didn't really add anything to it.

10 Jun - Wendy's, 30th Street Station PA

CB and I had Wendy's whilst waiting for the train to NYC. We shared the drink and fries and I had a Daves Double Cheeseburger.

The burger itself was quite good although a little sloppy to eat.

9 Jun - Dos Tacos, Philadelphia PA

CB and I tried another taco joint in the area. We shared some tacos and sides.

El Jefe - Shrimp, Salsa Verde, Turmeric Queso Fresco, Guacamole

Wild Mushrooms, Jicama-Guacamole, Lettuce, Chipotle Gastrique

Mexican Grilled Corn, Lime Aioli, Cotija Cheese, Smoked Paprika Chili

Yucca Fries
