Hotel breakfast
The morning started off with us trying our included breakfast in a little restaurant on the side of the hotel. The breakfast selections were small and I ended up having toast, eggs and some chipolatas, washed down with cordial like OJ. Probably not going to have hotel breakfast here again...
Starbucks - Bugis Junction
After breakfast, we walked to Bugis Junction where we stopped off to get a coffee. Here, I had a venti coffee frappacino with skim milk. Whilst nice, the venti size is quite a bit more than I normally drink, so I struggled a bit to finish it.
Old Chang Kee - Bugis Junction
After Starbucks, we walked through Bugis Junction to get to the MRT station. Along the way, we passed an Old Chang Kee, where I stopped to get Sotong Wing (little octopus) on Stick, at a mere $1.50 SGD. This was similar to Dim Sum squid tentacles at home, however a lot cheaper and just as good. Will have to try other Old Chang Kee choices...
Koufu Foodcourt - Toa Payoh Central
At Toa Payoh, we walked around a bit before settling for lunch in a food court. We also met up with our cousin CK here. Here I went for Roast Duck and Char Siu rice, with a boiled egg and some broth. It cost $5 SGD and was well worth it. The char siu was fatty but delicious and melted in the mouth. The duck was gamey but not too fatty and was boneless. The chilli had decent kick and the broth was very peppery.
After lunch, we went with CK to his brother's place (Chee Kiong) to go "surprise" him and our uncle and aunt. They knew something was up already as CK had called to check if people were home. Here we chatted a bit, watched Arnee-ah and Julie's wedding DVD and eventually was introduced to a game called Carrom. Gaz and I won our game vs CB and Chee Kiong. Arnee-ah and CK beat CB and Julie.
As Fairprice was in the area, we decided to do a little shopping before meeting up again for dinner. On the way to Fairprice, I bought a bit of bakkwa for later consumption.
The guys bought various amounts from Fairprice. Wagg bought Fairprice Fish Crackers which she cracked open and offered all of us some on the spot. After eating a couple, I was quite parched, so ended up going to McDonalds for an Iced Milo.
McDonalds - Toa Payoh
I bought an Iced Milo for $2.60 SGD and it really hit the spot. Afterwards, we went around shopping until dinner, where we all met up again with the others.
Ming Kitchen Seafood Restaurant - Toa Payoh
Arriving earlier than the 6:30PM arranged earlier, we had drinks while we waited. I had soy bean milk, which is now not as sweet (and it says so on the can).
Chee Kiong picked the various dishes including pork spare ribs, chilli and black pepper crabs, steamed fish, sweet crunchy octopus, tofu, lemon chicken, soft shelled prawns (with some deep fried oats which were awesome) and finished off with longans.
I wore some of my dinner, the crabs were the culprit! I flicked some over my shirt, shorts and face, which dirtied up my glasses. All good though, my shirt was soaked overnight and is now drying, ready for another day...
Swensens - Toa Payoh
In the mood for sweets, we stopped by the Swensens in Toa Payoh to have a Coit Tower. I would've preferred more vanilla icecream (my favourite), but still it was good. I wonder how many more will be consumed on the trip....

At Ming's, I went susu-less, as a midgey sprung up after I'd poured the susu into the glass of ice. Lucky I stirred it a bit, as I am aware of these surprises, and found the bugger before I had taken a sip.
I prefer to drink from the can rather than glasses. Unfortunately, in this case, the can of drink was warm!
