Fleur de Chine Hotel Breakfast Buffet
Breakfast started off with the hotel buffet. The spread was huge and I ate a lot to avoid snacking during the morning.
Bacon, hashbrown, mushrooms and roasted pumpkin. The bacon was too try for my liking, the mushrooms were quite good.
Salted pork, hash brown, roasted pumpkin, honey ham, mantou and a fried egg. The salted pork and ham were good, the mantou was a little dry.
Banana yoghurt drink.
A strawberry cream pastry and pistachio danish. Yum! I wanted to eat more but decided not to.
Chih Kan Pedders Noodle, Tainan City, Taiwan.
The tour took us to Tainan City where we visited a LOT of temples. Lunch was suggested by the tour guide, where some traditional dan dan noodles were served. This set cost $200 TWD ($6.66 AUD) each:
Some kind of Taiwanese tea. This tasted like warm grass jelly without the jelly.
Deep fried fish fritter of sorts. Served with some sweet sauce with wasabi in it. I preferred to eat it plain.
This was termed a coffin, deep fried bread with a creamy prawn filling. Quite heavy and felt dirty afterwards.
Dan dan noodle. This had a strong garlic taste throughout it and whilst I ate most of the noodles, I didn’t drink the soup.
Taiwanese vegetable with the same topping as the dan dan noodles. Heavy with the garlic again.
Bean curd and red bean. This had a slightly grainy texture but was still good.
Chimei Museum and Cafe, Tainan City, Taiwan
After visiting the Chimei Museum, we had a few moments to spare before being picked up by the bus. I had a soft serve icecream, costing $35 TWD (just over $1 AUD).
Lio Ho Night Market, Kaohsiung, Taiwan
We were originally going to have dinner in the night market, but the options didn’t look appetizing. I had a chicken leg as a snack which was slightly sweet and covered in pepper. Not bad, but a little dry.
Rice and Noodles, Kaohsiung, Taiwan
After getting dropped off by the tour bus, we headed down the street for some dinner. We found this place which looked busy and asked for noodles. We eventually got some pork porridge with century egg, which, whilst not what we ordered, was still tasty and enjoyed by me.
Master Fang, Kaohsiung, Taiwan
On the way back to the hotel, we stopped by the local bakery.
The garlic bread was a little weird. Savoury garlic butter, but the dough was slightly sweet.
This chiffon/meringue thingy was scented with orange and coated with almond flakes I think. It was nice, a bit sweet, but not cakey enough to warrant another try from me.
