Toast Box, Raffles City, Singapore
Breakfast this morning was at Raffles City at Toast Box. Here I had a bowl of chicken curry with rice and a cold Milo. The curry was really good, really rich from all the coconut milk and good flavour throughout. The chicken wings were falling off the bone and was thoroughly enjoyed.
J. Co Donuts, Raffles City, Singapore
While passing through Raffles City, I had to get some Glazzy donuts. These were light, fluffy and super sweet.
Food Court at Funan Mall, Singapore
After perusing Funan, we decided to have lunch at the food court there. I went for the char siu, roast pork and rice. It was smothered in a hoisin based source, which was a little much for me. The roast pork still had great crunch though and the chilli, although a little watery, packed enough punch for my mouth to tingle.
Korean Food Stall, Vivocity Basement, Singapore
We killed some time at Vivo in the afternoon and I decided to snack a little. This chicken thigh had much more flavour than the Taipei equivalent.
Modern Peking Duck, Vivocity Basement, Singapore
Also in the basement of Vivo was a Peking Duck fast food place. They had heaps of ducks and sucking pig hanging there and they were carving off the skin to serve in pancakes with hoisin and cucumber. $6 for 6 of these rolls. CB originally asked for 1 set of sucking pig and 1 set of duck, but we ended up getting 2 ducks. They were tasty, and the skin was nice and crackly, although a little exy for the price. A cheap way to have Peking Duck though.
Hard Rock Cafe, Sentosa, Singapore
Originally we were to have dinner at the Malaysian Food Street at the resort on Sentosa, but that was way too busy to get any table. We then decided to eat within Universal Studios before the fireworks, but that wasn’t happening on the night we had chosen because of school holidays. Instead, we decided then to have dinner at Hard Rock Cafe.
I chose the pulled pork sandwich, which consisted of a bun stuffed with pulled pork and drizzled in a vinegar based sauce. I also had a side of beans, coleslaw and fries. The sandwich was good, although a little hard to eat. The sauce carried the most smokey flavour, whilst the pork was tender, it wasn’t smokey at all. The beans had a good amount of smokey flavour to them. The fries were decent, and the coleslaw was so-so. Whilst my own pulled pork is better, this was appreciated simply because I didn’t have to make it haha.
