Breakfast started off in the hotel once again. A soupy porridge with peanuts, along with some overdone scrambled eggs.
Burger King, Taoyuan Taipei Airport, Taiwan
We had lunch after catching a bus to the airport and checking in our luggage. I saw that Burger King had a Spicy Whopper, so I had to try one. Unfortunately, the best things about a Whopper, being the mayonnaise and flame grilled patty, were missing in this spicy version. The patty wasn’t very flame grilled tasting at all, whilst the ketchup and mayo from a normal Whopper made way for a chilli sauce. The sauce was good, but it lacked the creamy goodness of a normal Whopper.
Singapore Airlines Taipei to Singapore
I wasn’t hungry at all by the time we got our meal on the flight. I chose the western option, and the main dish was “pan roasted chicken with mushroom onion sauce, vegetables and mashed potatoes”. The chicken was nice, the thigh portions were tender and moist, and not overdone like it usually is. I gave my cheese and smoked salmon bean salad to CB. I ate the crackers which were nice.
For dessert, we were served up strawberry icecream. I ate my portion which was creamy and had a good strawberry flavour.
Newton Circus, Singapore
For a drink, I opted for the good old lime juice. Zingy and ice cold, this one for $3 SGD didn’t let me down.
Whilst the others shared plates of stingray and ong choy, I didn’t feel hungry, so I went for my own plate of beef hor fun. The beef had been spiced with cinnamon and five spice, similar to mum’s braised version. Because of this, the gravy also had this slight flavour too. I don’t mind this in mum’s dish, but not in a ”horfun” dish. The noodles didn’t have a lot of wok hei flavour either.

The overcooked scrambled eggs made me laugh! They look rubbery (correct use of the word, in this case!)
