Singapore 2006 Holiday Day 17

Our last day started off with a light breakfast. At the usual spot I had some porridge (with some added goodies), and 2 eggs as an omlette.




Afterwards, everyone except Gary and Claire went to Mustafa to do some last minute shopping. After a couple of hours, we finally retired up at Ag's room where we got slightly peckish and had McDonalds delivered to the hotel. It was only $2 to deliver it. I ended up with a McSpicy meal which really hit the spot.



We hung around the hotel for the day until it was 4PM to depart. We hopped into the taxi and headed to the airport. Here we checked in and were roughly 1.5kg under the allowed weight combined! Phew! I had noticed that Changi Airport had a Popeyes Chicken but was unable to find it. Instead, I had a Black Pepper Whopper meal. I wanted to try the Triple Whopper meal but wasn't game enough to try.



Afterwards, we had a drink at the Pacific Coffee Company. I had a banana and strawberry frappa which wasn't too bad. We met up with CK and then finally parted ways. After boarding the plane, and having a delay in the departure of the plane, my final meal for the holiday was the beef on the flight.

Singapore 2006 Holiday Day 16

The day started off with breakfast. At the usual spot, I had a bacon and egg sandwich, which comprised of an egg omlette with bacon and tomato sauce.



Afterwards, we all headed down to Orchard Road except Gary. Here we went to the Starbucks on the top of Wisma Atria where I had a coffee frappa.



We then went to Lucky Plaza to show Carley what it is like there with the philipinos. Here I went looking for XBOX 360 controllers and charge kits. Claire was ruthless in trying to cut down the prices of the goods, I ended up getting one wireless controller and two charge kits for $134 SGD all up. We decided to have lunch here too, where I had a miniwok of seafood horfun. This one wasn't too bad!



After lunch, we took our time looking around until we finally heard from our cousin. We met up at a nearby Starbucks where we chatted for a couple of hours and had a coffee. I had another frappa but forgot to take a picture. Afterwards, we parted ways and we continued to look around Orchard Road until it was time to meet up with CK and Lisa at City Hall. We eventually passed a Taco Bell, where I had a burrito. I wasn't that hungry but it was on my list of things to have so I bought one ($3), and it wasn't that nice.



Afterwards, we went to City Hall and walked around Robinsons and then finally rested at Gloria Jeans. Here, some of the guys had coffees but I didn't have anything. Afterwards, we went down C!tyLink mall and to HMV until finally settling to dinner at Sakae Sushi at 7PM. Here I had about 10 plates in total, which included fried fish, miso, gyzola, tori kaarage and unagi (eel). Dinner was finally finished with tempura icecream, which was like fried icecream but better. The sauce I could have gone without though.








Afterwards, we went to Swensens where I had a Coit Tower. I forgot to take a picture though, but it hit the spot.

Singapore 2006 Holiday Day 15

The day started off with breakfast. I had toast with omlette on top, and had a croissant to finish off. I also drank a few glasses of OJ.




Afterwards, the guys wanted to do some shopping in the Chinatown streets. I didn't want to buy anything, so I found a McDonalds at Chinatown and logged onto the internet using the laptop. I spent a couple of hours here just checking mail, looking up things and updating the blog. Here I had a hashbrown and a chocolate blended ice from Coffee Bean.



Afterwards, we went to Toa Payoh to meet up with CK for lunch. Here, we met up at Koufu, where I had charsil and chicken noodles, with dumpling soup. The total cost of the meal was $8 but it was well worth it. The dumplings were huge!



We saw Chee Kiong in Fairprice who asked if we wanted steamboat at his place for dinner. Since we didn't have concrete plans, we accepted, with Ants and I walking around with Chee Kiong finding bits for the night's dinner. We bought about $45 of food which included pork, beef, chicken, dori fillets, salmon, scallops, chinese cabbage, bean sprouts, eggplant and mushrooms. We went back to CK's to relax for a bit before going to Chee Kiong's place for dinner.



Afterwards, we chatted for a bit, with Chee Kiong tell us stories of ghostly encounters, along with his experiences in Geylang. Afterwards, it was time to go, and said our goodbyes. We left about 10PM and headed back for the hotel.

Singapore 2006 Holiday Day 14

The day started off trying to sleep in. However, the renovations taking place at the hotel meant that drilling started a little before 9:30, and therefore hardly any sleeping in was done. After tossing and turning for awhile and finally getting up, Claire and I finally got ready and headed out to look for a net cafe. We initially went to the one at Farrer Park station, however, they only opened after 1PM, so we decided to check out the big LAN gaming centre and pinnies in Bugis Junction. We caught the taxi and went to KFC, cos I wanted to try the 'Kentucky Fried Fish', where they coat fish fillets in the 11 herbs and spices.

Claire and I shared a 'buddy meal', which consisted of the fish and chips, 2 pieces of 'crispy' chicken, 2 tubs of coleslaw, 1 potato and gravy and 2 drinks. We also decided to try the 'cheese popcorn', which is popcorn chicken with some cheesey powder for an extra $2. Everything we ate at KFC was different to the Australian equivalent. The crispy chicken was like Hot and Spicy without the Hot and Spicy, the fish was OK. The chips were crinkle cut! The potato and gravy and coleslaw was just weird in taste.. and the cheese popcorn chicken wasn't really my thing. The only thing the same was the 7UP drink. This is in contrast to a Big Mac or a Whopper, where Singapore McD's and Burger King taste pretty much the same as their Australian counterparts.



Afterwards, Claire and I hit the net for a bit and then walked around Bugis Junction. At the local McD's, we decided to have a 'chococone, which is essentially a choc top. It was nice but melted quickly and I ended up with sticky fingers.



We then went to Chinatown MRT to meet up with the others. Here we walked around Chinatown Point for a bit to look for a bite to eat (for the others). Swensens was decided to be the port of call. Here, Claire and I shared a vegie pizza, which wasn't too bad, although a little small for the $10 we spent. Swensens also had a promotion where if you bought a main meal, soup and a desert came free. Ag bought a pasta but didn't want to have the soup or desert (so she could fit a Coit Tower in), so I finished up her freebies. The chicken and vegie soup wasn't too bad (a bit salty), but the desert was quite nice, which was some icecream in some pastry.





We then shopped a little and had a breakuntil it was time to go on the walking tour. We stopped off at Maccas where I had a double cheeseburger and an Iced Milo.




The tour itself was quite interesting, with the first half detailing the sex trade in the early years of Singapore. The second half contained a walk through one of the current red light districts, however to the unsuspecting tourist, they probably wouldn't know any better. Afterwards, we met up with CK, who showed us his new car, and we went to Newton Circus for food. Here I shared the stingray with Claire, had 5 beef, 5 chicken satay and 1 sticky rice and had an Ice Kachang.



Singapore 2006 Holiday Day 13

Being Sentosa day, we all had to depart early to try and make it to Sentosa at a good and early time. We eventually got to Sentosa at 9:30ish, where we bought the 'Imbiah Suprize' package which included the most value of attractions. We first wanted to try the Wondergolf but that ended up being utterly crapola. We then did the other attractions on our package including the Magix 4D ride (which was quite enjoyable), Butterfly Park and the Luge. Gary, Carley, Claire and I enjoyed the Luge so much that we paid another $8 to go again.

Afterwards, I redeemed my free Cool drink from the bar. We then proceeded to go to the Images Of Singapore display. Along the way, Gary and Ag took pictures with a python snake. Before going to Images Of Singapore, some of us ate at Tastes of Singapore, where I had a chicken rice.



We then went through the Images Of Singapore display, where Ag took silly pictures of herself and the wax statues. We also went up the Merlion, Carlsberg Sky Tower and finally ended going to Mount Faber on the cable car. Whenever an occupied cable car on the opposite side, would approach After taking a few shots, we went back to HarbourFront station via cable car.

Here we met up with Chee Kiong to eat dinner at Yuki on Yaki. This was a place with a hotplate and stock pot where bits of meat and vegetables could be cooked and eaten. It was for low $20 and the time allowed was 2 hours. The buffet was smashed, but unfortunately, no pictures were taken.

Afterwards, we decided to go bowling, where I bowled 102 and 129 I think. We then went to Swensens where Claire and I shared some chips and a chocolate sundae.


Singapore 2006 Holiday Day 12

The day started off a bit later than usual as we didn't have anything planned until the afternoon, which was High Tea at the Raffles. We met up with CK at Marina Square at Starbucks. Here we snacked on Famous Amos cookies and I had a mocha frappa from memory (sorry, I forgot to take photos). Afterwards, we went up to the top floor to the bowling alley, where I bowled a 90 something and a 100 something .. not very well anyways.

Afterwards, we went across the hall to play some Pool. Here we played Kelly's Marbles, 9 ball and we also managed to fit a couple of rounds of 8 ball as well. After about 30 mins at the pinnies (the others went to shop a bit), we caught up again to go to Raffles.

Here, we took a few photos and then lined up to get our reserved table. We wanted close to the buffet like last time, however, the table we received was the most furtherest from the buffet. The only upside of it was it was a private room. We all ogled over how quiet it was in our own function room, with more space and better seating, but quickly discovered that the service from the waiters was not so lightning quick as the previous trip. This time around, my tea and water glasses were empty for awhile before being topped up. Also, I believe the selection is slightly smaller. All in all, the food was pretty nice, the sandwiches we were given (to help offset the queues to the buffet) were very filling, so I could only manage another plate and then only a little bit of fruit.





Afterwards, we freshened up a bit back at the hotel and went to CK's place. Here I fixed a few things for CK on his laptop, had a few snacks and mingled around. Bobby was friendly and probably remembered us from last time. After a few hours here, we finally left at about 10ish for some supper.

Walking into Toa Payoh Central, there were only a few fast food places open. Since McDs and Burger King were available back home, we decided to hit MOS Burger. Here I had a teriyaki chicken burger meal, which came with fries and a drink. Ants wanted a MOS Burger, but they didn't have tomato, and they wouldn't substitute anything in place, so he didn't have anything.

Singapore 2006 Holiday Day 11

The day started off with bacon and egg sandwiches. The first sandwich was with toasted bread, the second was with fresh bread. Note that the bacon and egg from the 2nd picture was some left over from the first plate.




After breakfast, we headed to Tampines. Before shopping, a stop at Starbucks took place. Here I ordered a coffee frappa.



After coffee, it was time to shop. Gary and I mainly stuck to gaming stores and hit the pinnies afterwards. The ones at Tampines were particularly bad, with some machines not operating properly with controls missing etc. I had only used half my tokens when it was time to meet for lunch.

For lunch I had a Japanese unagi set. The eel was microwaved and not very nice. The Qoo was white grape flavour and not too bad.



After that, we stayed in Tampines a little longer before heading to Bugis. Gary decided to head back to the hotel and Claire stayed behind. Here the rest wanted to go to Starbucks again, but I decided to have a McDonalds Iced Milo.



Cooled and refreshed, we hung around Bugis Junction and then down to the street markets. I bought a hawaiin shirt for $10 in XXXL size. Lucky that I did too cos it fits nicely. I think a XXL size would be a little snug. Afterwards, we caught a taxi back to the hotel and took a rest before heading back out at 5.

Meeting up at 5, we went to Clarke Quay. Here we took a bumboat ride down the Singapore River and Carley, Gary and Claire went on the GMax. There are some videos on DVD and cameras of the ride. We also tried to look for a good eating spot here but it has since been refurbished since our last visit and decided to eat somewhere else with CK.

We met up with CK in Marina Square via taxi. We were initially supposed to walk down to The Esplanade for some food, but due to Carley's feet being sore from her new shoes, it was decided that dinner would be at the food court. Here I had a chicken rice and a grilled chicken and satay set.




After dinner, the others went for coffee at Starbucks. I had a hot chocolate instead, which was good, but a little too hot to drink at first. We also had some Famous Amos cookies and chatted until we were kicked out at about 10PM.

Singapore 2006 Holiday Day 10

10:24PM - 12 Rounds of Pure Smashing

The day started off with breakfast. I didn't have much again this time round, 4 bits of toast. Round 1 had butter and strawberry jam, round 2 had butter only.



After breakfast, we headed off to Orchard Road. First up was Starbucks at Wisma Atria. Here we were served by a staff member of dubious sexuality. It took awhile for the drinks to arrive, but they eventually did. Here I had a grande mocha frappa.



We all then headed off to Lucky Plaza. Here I was looking at XBox 360 stuff but didn't come across anything of great value. The meeting point was at Maccas at Lucky Plaza, where I had a 6 nugget meal (I wanted a 9 nugget meal but they didn't have it).



We spent the afternoon in various Orchard malls including Paragon, Cineleisure and eventually ended up at a Starbucks. We then made our way to Pariss at Ngee Ann City. We paid up and started smashing. Some highlights of the night include Carley's projecticle herbal jelly.

Rounds consisted of:
Round 1: 3 scallops, 2 mussels.
Round 2: 3 garlic scallops, 2 siew mai, 1 unagi sushi (eel), 2 unknown.
Round 3: 1 prawn tempura, 3 honey and soy drumsticks, 1 wedge, 3 seafood rings some small prawn crackers.
Round 4: 2 unagi sushi, 1 prawn sushi.
Round 5: peppered steak with some sauce and corn.
Round 6: chicken thigh, with sweet chilli sauce and corn.
Round 7: sharks fin soup.
Round 8: 2 dori fillets with some salt and pepper and lemon.
Round 9: salmon with salt and pepper and lemon.
Round 10: durian icecream and assorted bite sized cakes.
Round 11: durian icecream.
Round 12: 2 unagi sushi.














Afterwards, we made our way back to the hotel and vegged out whilst being full little piggies.
