The morning started off with breakfast. I wanted something savoury, and felt like something savoury. Being Lent (and subsequently not eating meat on Fridays), nothing tickled my fancy at the bakery near the hotel or at Starbucks. So I had my vanilla latte only.

Today's itinerary involved a tram ride, so we hopped onto a tram which headed to the east of the island, terminating at Shau Kei Wan.

The Maccas was right next to the tram terminus, so I decided to grab a drink. I had a chocolate shake. Nothing much to report, it was your typical McD’s shake.

After looking through the markets, we then took the tram in the alternate direction which terminated at the Western Market near Central. The market sounded interesting, but turned out to be a major disappointment. So after a short while, it was then decided to head over to the Peninsula Hotel to have high tea. When we arrived, the line was already quite long (and they did not take bookings), and so we ended up having to wait about an hour and a half before we were seated. After seating, the majority of us went for the ‘Traditional Peninsula High Tea’ option ($498 HKD for two), which consisted of:

Bottomless tea. The teapot was regularly topped up, although the tea was pretty weak by the end of it all.

An assortment of goodies. From the bottom up included: scones, smoked salmon open sandwich, ham sandwich, cucumber sandwich, mushroom roll thingy, chocolate jaffa tasting, raspberry muffin, passionfruit cheesecake and some prune cake. Highlights for me included the scones, ham and salmon sandwiches, the mushroom roll and the raspberry muffin.

After an hour or so, we were served a coconut panacotta. I enjoyed it, although it was quite small.

When the bill was served, we were served macaroons. I had the brown one on the left, which was coffee flavoured.

After high tea, we then proceeded to shop around the Tsa Shim Tsui area. We ended up having dinner at near 9PM.

I had fishball noodle soup. The broth this time wasn’t as tasty as previous ones though, and the serving was small-ish.

After dinner, we headed back towards Causeway Bay and the hotel. Feeling a little peckish, I had a share of spicy fishballs from a local street vendor. These were in a spicy broth, but since they had been steeping in the liquid for probably hours, they were a little tough. They were quite nicely spiced however.
