01042011770The last day of the holiday started off with breakfast consisting of Old Chang Kee and Starbucks. Observing Lent, I had two giant fishballs, a sardine-o and a grande caramel machiato.

After returning to the hotel to finalise packing and check out, we headed off to Iluma shopping centre to have some lunch. After perusing the eateries on the fourth level, it was decided to try the Tastes of Hong Kong cafe.

01042011771I had an icecream coffee, which I think is a white coffee with a scoop of icecream. I’m not sure if condensed milk was used or not but this was very sweet, borderline too sweet. Once the ice melted slightly it was a bit better.

01042011772CB and I shared some spring rolls. The menu said the pictures were for illustrative purposes only, and whilst the spring rolls looked good on the menu, they turned out to be tiny. The picture with my pinky finger illustrates the size of each roll. They weren’t very tasty either.

01042011773The seafood fried rice was edible, but a little bland and pretty salty. I think the only seafood was a bit of prawn. Scrambled with a little egg, that was pretty much it. Not even a hint of wok hei either.

After sitting at the cafe for awhile, it was decided to quickly grab one last sundae at Swensens. The crew at Bugis Junction Swensens were happy to give us some priority treatment after asking them to be served within half an hour. After taking our order, the sundaes came in lightning speed, minutes compared to the half an hour at Serangoon.

01042011774Not much to say about the Coit Tower, except this one was freshly made (the bananas had not even been chilled by the icecream when we received them) and went down a treat, although by the end I was struggling to fit it in.

We were picked up by the transfer service back at the hotel. The bus ride to Changi Airport took awhile due to multiple crashes on the PIE. Whilst we had plenty of time to spare, the bus driver clearly didn’t know how to slip a clutch and constantly jerked the bus in the stop start traffic. I was beginning to feel sick but managed to keep my sundae and lunch down.

After saying our goodbyes and buying some duty free, we were on the plane and dinner was served after an aborted attempt due to turbulent weather.

01042011775I chose the fish option, in which I was able to eat everything except for the big piece of ham in the pasta salad. The fish with rice was OK, although nothing to rave home about. The pasta salad would’ve been great with the ham but it was still tasty without.

Dessert was this icecream of sorts. More like a vanilla mousse as it was quite airy and light.

Yeah and apart from the impromptu roller-coaster ride, the others said the driver should have taken the ECP instead of the PIE, and then we would have avoided all the traffic jams.

That Swensen's speed-job coit tower was good, because the choc sauce got mixed up on top as well, so even better than when it is normally all in the bottom!

If I'd known the plane dessert was moussey, I might not have given it away to CB!

Next time, instead of humungous plain fishballs, you'll have to ask for the humungous spicey fishballs!
